Why not knit up a hat in team colors for your college student or your alma mater, or to show support for your favorite team? The optional Head Huggers pattern shown will knit up like a beanie--follow our instructions for striping below, or add stripes as desired to make it all your own.
We've done our best to match colors, but if you have suggestions please let us know!
If you don't see your team, check out the other conferences listed (with over 140 teams, they had to be divided somehow!).
  • The pattern calls for size US 7 16" circulars and double points, not included.
  • The gauge is approximately 4.5 stitches per inch, but the pattern gives instructions for other gauges if you find you're knitting more tightly or loosely. Be sure to check your gauge!
Recommended stripe pattern:
  • Knit in MC for 1" from cast on edge. Knit in CC for 1", then return to MC (or use a second contrasting color if your team has one! Black and white are usually safe for a third color if you like the three-stripe look, too!).
  • If you've used a second contrasting color, return to MC after 1". Finish the pattern in MC.
Optional pattern: Ann Norling - 55 - Head Huggers
